6-4 MILSPEC Titainium 3" long
Small cutting grove with carbide enforced edge
3/16 lantard hole/1 with lanyard 2 without

Been working on some cool projects lately, and prototyping some new ideas with new materials.

I learned a few skills this summer working at my friends machine shop which have allowed me run my lathe better. The lathe is really nice it's a WEBCO from Germany, variable power feed and speed..

I have started a new device I have been wanting to get going for some time. I made the first one about six month ago. it was not until recently that I found the solution to the problem. So I have started to get the ball rolling and currently waiting on samples of material needed from a Texas based company. I have been making the current ones with off the shelf material here, but it's not good enough for this tool. I am not ready to let the cat out of the bag yet so this will be continued.

Monday pictures

Going try and update the blog on Mondays with some photo's and what will be in the works for the week. Things change so fast that it may not happen but I will give it my best.

"Last Ditch Knife" Designs!

I have a few designs that fall into this category, so I will promote it as such. Hope that helps with any confusion on ordering. My goal is to start filling the "Edged Tools" on my web page, and keeping the designs in stock.

First up is the "BOB" Bug out Blade"

A small knife designed to compliment your Bug out kit, so far I have made them in CPM D2 and 3V. Both straight and recurved. I added a new feature to the lanyard and its proved to be effective and added some function to the overall use of the design. Look for this knife in the coming weeks, as I lean forward to get some ready.

The next LDKD is called the Odd-Job. another small blade design packed with some muti-task features. Designed for a good friend over in the UK who runs a great site called OscarDelta SPD . Have a look at his site and some great hard to find gear. The Odd-Job has been made in CPM 154, CPM D2, 1095 and next run will be in 3V. It will also be dressed up in black dura coat and ready for hard use.

The above proto-type was done last year, the material is 6LA4V ti.

This batch in CPM 154 is at the Dura Coater getting dressed up! all but one will be heading over to OscarDelta SPD. I will be sending this design to Halpern Ti for water jet this week, I have no control on when they fit me in but they always take care of me!

The last design is the Survive/Escape which is a full size hard use knife. I am working on three at the moment and will put some pictures of the progress this week.

All right time to get going and talk with you guys later!

New Item SAR TRI-SIG

19JUL12 1500 hrs SOLD OUT Order has been placed for more so hang tight, these will be moving to my webpage as a regualr stock item SOLD OUT

SAR 2012

Folks without going into a big old explanation of where I was I will just say I am back in the shop with the intentions of staying there so now that we are over the tearful reunion I have a new item I would like to test run. Some of you are like "Dang dude build a knife" that is my focus but I wanted to get the ball rolling on this.....so just hang tight and see what happens.

ATTENTION order information is at the bottom, please read carefully and follow the simple instructions or be passed over simple as that.

SGT Triple Signal devise or TRI-SIG. A Active/Passive day and night signal device, NO Batteries required on you the signaler.

The base triangle is made from G10 which is pretty much a indestructible material explanation of FR-4 aka G10 and measures 2" across the bottom and up the sides. They come in two standard colors which are shown International Signal Orange and Black. If needed I can fulfill special color demands on custom orders for SAR units, LEO's, Firefighters, etc but will require you meet a certain a quota.

The front side features a 5/8 316 Stainless Steel washer that is highly polished and has good reflectabillity. (Same as the Moon Glow Micros).

On the back is a 1" disk of reflective tape available in various colors with a small inter disk of Glow in the dark MIL-SPEC lume tape (Cat Eyes)

Shown above is the SOLAS/Lume combo fixed to a life jacket via parachute cord

The Coast Guard approved SOLAS (Safety Of Life At Sea) is the most reflective and has the most candle power of all tapes offered on the current market. The colored Type III reflexite tape is to a lesser degree than SOLAS but is extremely effective as well. The 3M high gain is really great as well for those that require location possibilities during use with Night Vision goggles (NVG's) it will work with regular lighting but when luminated with a laser device is visible for miles. The MIL-SPEC lume tape has been in use by the military for as long as I can remember and is very effectictive and requires only to be charged up during daytime and will glow for hours during periods of limited visibility (Darkness)

Options currently available. Washer and lume are standard on all devices

For a tactical setting and lower vis  option of Black is available, its a great background that does enhance the visibility of the tape more so than the orange.

Black version on chest rig attached with a 220 pound rated stainless steel screw gate clip that has been stonewashed to reduce glare and overall visibility.

Shown above with Orange Type III reflexite tape

The rest of the pictures are other consideration for placement on key items, use you imagination and you could find many applications for this device

                                                                        Medical Kits

Personal GPS

Key chain or lanyard on a survival knife (Not shown)

I have a limited number on hand so its a first come first serve basis, if you are on the fence and miss the boat all I can offer is a sorry because I cannot promise I will do another run.

The price for now will be $25.00 dollars included S&H all PP fees etc.

Ordering instructions
Send a email to sarglobaltool@gmail  with your request of G10 color Orange or Black and what color sticker you would like SOLAS,  Blue, Orange, Green, 3M High gain. I will in turn send you a quick books invoice with payment instructions and payment options.

As of this moment the first 6 will get the stonewashed screw gate included, that's is all I have in stock. I will try to find this item and include in the future if feasible, other than that you will be responsible for how you fix it to your gear.

Please what you see is what you get ask for anything else and I will move on to the next customer.

ALL orders ship USPS first class or parcel post, I have shipped thousands of Signal tags in this manner and found it to be the best option.

Thanks

My "Other" life and blog spot

He folks just wanted to pass on my other blog site that my partner Jason and I run called DUG (Discovered Under Ground). We both got bit by the treasure hunting bug and it has develop into a very rewarding hobby/pursuit. The friendship that has come from this is a strong one and I feel extremely lucky to have crossed paths with my treasure hunting partner.

D.U.G. (Discovered Under Ground) blog

The site features both "QuickDigs" which are short as it happened and full 10 minute plus episodes of some very unique and historical finds that we have come across in which we want to share the full story.

Texas Confederate officers cuff button from the civil war

Possible treasure symbol from long ago I found at a old home site, it is quite large 6" wide x 18" tall "Hourglass" and could be a danger symbol for "WAR" or it means "One Day" according to a book on treasure signs and symbols from author and veteran metal detector and pioneer Charles Garrett.

At first we thought of finding coins and gold was the point in all this only to discover it was the post dig/find that really made us happy. Diving into research, talking with "Old Timers" and delivering a quality product for you to enjoy has brought more satisfaction they we imagine possible. We do not promote Relics for profit and have donated things back to places like musuems and local historical groups in which the objects are made available to a wider audience instead of a private collector.

1890 Mexican 8 Reale silver dollar

A very nice example of a 1903 Liberty AKA Barber dime minted in New Orleans, its amazing that this dime has been in the ground for so long and still look so good.

So please take the time to look at the Team DUG blog site, subscribe to it and the YouTube site and you will always know when a new episode comes out. We are working on the next one now that will feature a "Sterling Silver" Baseball from 1944 found at a 1890's "Dog Trot" cabin/homestead. It will be a good show for sure so please stay tuned and help us spread the word as we try to promote "Good" quality, informative entertainment. We also want to be good stewards of proper metal detecting "Ethics" to ensure we and future generation can enjoy the thrill, excitement and adventure in Treasure hunting

D.U.G. (Discovered Under Ground) blog

Recently I had a chance to speak at my daughters and sons school, in which I put on a short presentation about treasure hunting, history and practicing good ethics while enjoying the hobby. I would have to say that it was a great experience for both the teachers, student and myself. I really believe it will only get better

Thanks in advance for any feedback and we look forward to hearing from you on any question, or possibly bringing Team DUG to you for a episode. My new motto is Patience, Persistent and be Optimistic!

Good article and a update

Okay I know its the first post of the year and we have already moved through a good part of 2012. I am now working at a machine shop which specializes in protoytpe oil and natural gas drilling fixtures and everything in between. I took the job on for a few reasons first was to help my friend as he is swamped with work second was my background in metal work and machining.

So far it has been rewarding as I begin to understand how to work diffent machines, measurements/indicating, fixture/setup and the key to it all is feeds and speeds. In time I will be able to apply this to my knife and tool making to produce a better product for my friends and customers. When the time is right I will begin to work on some folders and I have several projects in mind that before would have been unattainable to do limited machine knowledge.

The next item is a testimony written by David Reeder from a high level Federal Mexican Drug enforcement officer who some time back found himself in a difficult situation. It marks the first time since building the SAR Eclipse Signal System (SESS) that I received feedback in which it played a role in the direct rescue of a person. Since then I have received feedback from a few other individuals like FBI agent, US Army and a NEW Zeland service member that have relayed like stories of successful rescues due implementing the SESS.

South of the Border Firefight and Rescue

I will not lie it has become the most important thing I make here at SAR Global Tool, knowing that every tag made possess the potential to help a person out of a life threatening situation. So in a nutshell if I never sold another signal device, it would have been worth the time, money and effort.

I am at this moment working on the next evolution of the SESS it will feature a vast improvement in daytime signal operation. I am confident that the SESS will become a fixture for military, law enforcement, rescue personnel and civilians can depend on when the chips are down.

Anyways look forward to posting some new stuff and sharing my progress in becoming a "Hack" machinist"...lol
